Materials: Furniture Grade Birch Ply
Kerfed Table twists and bends plywood in unexpected ways through the use of kerf cut patterns. Kerf cuts are small cuts or slits in the surface of a material allowing it to bend and twist depending on the pattern of the cuts.
This project explores the possibilities of this age old technique, using advanced CNC machinery and computer modelling to create precise irregular patterns. These patterns allow the sheet to twist and bend in controlled ways while using only one piece of material.
